Frequently asked questions
Which TVs does this app work with?
Any TV that exposes the open JointSpace HTTP API (v6) on its local network. In practice that means most Philips Smart TVs running SAPHI OS from 2020 onwards (for example the 50PUS7607, the wider xxPUS7xxx and xxPUS8xxx ranges). Older Android-TV Philips models that still expose JointSpace also work, although app launching may be limited by the TV firmware.
"Scan network" finds nothing — what should I check?
- Confirm the phone and the TV are on exactly the same Wi-Fi network. Many routers expose a separate "guest" or "IoT" network that cannot reach the main LAN.
- On the TV, open Settings → All settings → Network → Network reset if needed, then make sure Switch on with Wi-Fi (WoWLAN) and the JointSpace network service are enabled.
- Verify the TV's IP address (on the TV: Settings → All settings → Network → View network settings). Then open
http://<tv-ip>:1925/6/systemin a browser on your phone. If you see a JSON response, the API is reachable — try Manual IP in the app. - If the browser request also fails, the TV's local API is off or the network is segmented; consult your TV's network settings or router admin page.
The remote connects but volume and channel keys do nothing
This is almost always because the TV's JointSpace service has rebooted into a state where it no longer accepts un-paired requests. Power the TV fully off (hold the physical power button or unplug for 10 seconds), then back on, and try again. Pairing is automatic when the TV is in its normal "on" state.
Wake-on-LAN doesn't turn the TV on
iOS and Android sandbox apps so tightly that sending a raw Layer-2 magic packet from the phone itself is unreliable. The recommended setup is to run a small Wake-on-LAN HTTP relay on a device that is always on (a Raspberry Pi, a NAS, your router's user-scripts feature) and configure its URL in Settings → Wake-on-LAN HTTP relay. The app POSTs the TV's MAC address to that URL when you tap the power-on shortcut.
Streaming apps (YouTube, Netflix) won't launch
Some Philips firmware versions ignore DIAL launches unless the TV is already on the SmartTV input. The app sends a "Home" keypress before each app launch to compensate, but in rare cases you may need to navigate to the SmartTV input manually first, then tap the app shortcut again.
Does the app collect data, show ads, or talk to any server?
No. The app communicates only with your TV on your local Wi-Fi network, and nothing else. Full details are in the privacy policy.
How do I add a second TV?
In the app: Settings → Add / Change TV. The active TV is shown with a coloured indicator; tap any other saved TV to switch instantly.
How do I remove a TV from the app?
Open Settings → Saved TVs, tap the TV, and choose Forget. The IP address and any saved options for that TV are wiped from the device immediately.
